I do not know if I told you about my plan spending a year abroad as an Au Pair in the US this year after my A-Levels because you know that I always want to go to the US and that living in the US is a dream of me. My blog post about how badly I want to visit the US sometimes. I was so confident about the idea that I never thought it would fail. To be an Au Pair you need at least 200 hours of childcare experience which I have with my two internships in kindergarten. The problem is that it must not be older than 3 years and one of it was in January 2014 and with that 3 years ago. I hoped it would still count but my interviewer told me yesterday after I did all the things which were needed ( a medical form completed by a doctor – I even had to be x-rayed -, a character reference, two childcare references – I crazed the kindergarten because I wanted them to hurry because I knew it would become tight, so I even sent my aunt there because she said they should not be the reason why I am not able to do it. But they were not fast enough. -, a lot of copies of official documents like my passport, a criminal record and the thing which was extremly time-consuming and which made a great effort was the application video which was very hard to film and cut and edit. I am very disappointed and there is no chance how I can get to missing hours especially not a few weeks before my A-Levels! I want to concentrate on good A-Level results rather than on desperatly trying to make my year abroad become reality. I mean I was never so sure about it because it would be a long time I would not be at home. Although I think it would have been a great distraction from home.
Okay, I have cried for a short time when I read the message but now everything is fine. I still have not told it anybody.
The good thing is there is still something I can work for: a journey to the US although I am not sure I want to be there when Trump is president. Well, then I have to wait four more years but that is not much regarding the time I have dreamed about it already!
In the meantime I am going to be a student, the only problem is I have no clue what I want to do later and with that I do not know what to study! Because of this the year abroad would have been a great chance to think about it.
I got up at 6 am and watched Charmed and Perfection until I went to breakfast.
After breakfast Christine and I drove to work. This day was really boring… I just had to update the rest of the alltogether 375 customer accounts. That was much to do but very boring so I not only did this but also used the program Paint and went to the toilette for a change. I also liked it when I had my own card to go into and through the building because not everybody was able to. It felt very exclusive. 🙂 However I thought the day would never end… After I went back to the BB I changed my shoes and went to Stratford. This time is used the way I already knew to get to Tesco. After I bought something for dinner (Pizza, Muffin and Burger) I went back to the BB and watched TV. There is not much different to do. There I watched NCIS. I was so tired that I feel asleep while watching it. Fortunately I woke up at 1 am so was able to set my alarm and get up in time the day after that.
I found a new routine after getting up at 6am. Although the bed is very comfortable I was not able to get more than 7 hour sleep. After I got up I got dressed and cleaned up my room. Then I watched Perfection and one episode of Charmed. I watched this series in Germany too. When it is finish I have still 25 minutes left ’til I have to go to the breakfast. I chose the same things like the day before except of the grilled tomato. It took me 20 minutes to finish my breakfast. I was alone in the dining room again. Christine picked me up at half past eight and we arrived there at 9am. She told me about her last day that her son had forgotton to write his diary for school and that she had to do it. In the office I filed in some invoices and deal files. This was not as boring as it sounds. After work I wanted to go to Tesco. Because I have no refigator I cannot keep things cold and have to go shopping everyday. This time I took another way because I thought it would be faster. But no way! Suddenly I was in the Industrial Estates and was lost again. So I had to turn around but the lazy me prefered to let my mobile calculate a new route. So I went along the canal of the river Avon. At Tesco I bought the same things like yesterday. When I returned to the BB I watched TV but nothing special… Oh guys it sounds so boring but it was like the last days great!
Okay just some things: First I will write what happened on the day like a diary this means I am not writing like I already know what happens the next days… Second if I write something it is my opinion and does not want to hurt people and third sorry for my English sometimes, when I said something in England sometimes I noticed right away that it was wrong, I mean grammatically.
Ok let’s go!
I got up at 7am bc I was going to have breakfast at 7.45am. I got dressed formal, I had to because of my internship, but I a) was scarred that I would make stain on it and I had not got a washing machine so I wore a jacket and b) it feeled strange to be dressed like this there. But nobody wuld have mind because I was alone in the dining room. Maybe because I took the earliest time to have breakfast. Breakfast was great a chose grilled tomato (which did not tasted well), mushrooms, potato waffle, bacon and beaked beans, coffee and white toast. It was very delicious. I got my own pot of coffee and was not sure if I had to drink this all so I drank the whole pot. Breakfast took 30 minutes. I went back to my room to go to the toilett and grab my stuff. Christine picked me up at 8.30am because “work” started at 9am. We arrived there at 8.56am. I had to continue with my research which hotel in the UK have business accounts. Between 10am and 12pm I went to the toilett approx. 10 times because of the coffee! Then I had to rearrange contracts whose layouts moved because of two different programms. The time flew by really fast. After I Christine drove me to the BB I changed my clothes and went to the Town Centre of Stratford to buy some souvenirs for my family and non-excistent friends. But the stores closed already at 5pm and I just finish “work” then so I will never buy some souvenirs there. Fortunately there were a class from France and one souvenir shop opened again! 😉 So I bought some shot glasses for my parents because I bought them some in Venice too. I bought a bracelett for my best friend and one for me, postcards, 2 pens (one for my sister, one for my cousin) and a mirror for a friend. It was 6.15pm now. Now I wanted to go back to the BB because I already bought something for dinner in my break, I bought noodles, grapes, strawberries, carrots, and three fruit salads. This things are in Germany so much cheaper. For example strawberries cost £2 (approx. 2.76€). In Germany they cost 1.5€ (approx. £1.09) or the Coke £1 (approx. 1.38€) cost in Germany 0.85€ (approx. £0.62). I am not sure why I bought so much .stuff which has to be kept in a refrigator so I ate almost everything that day but back to my way home. I was not sure which way so I followed the sign which says Stratford leys, I thought leys means something like hotel… It was of course wrong but I kept going ’til I arived at Tesco’s. There I bought 2 diet coke and muffins. I infered that I had to be parallel to my BB and just had to find a street which linked those two. Because of this I comped all the little streets but they were dead ends so after an hour unsuccesful searching I decided to go the way back I went there. It was dark now and I wanted to get back so I chose another way. Fortunately it was a cutoff. When I arrived at the BB I chose what I wanted to get for breakfast tomorrow. First I thought I had to choose for my whole stay. Then I turned the TV on and watched NCIS, Big Bng Theory and Supernatural. After this I watched The king’s speech. I fell asleep and woke up at 1am. I turned of the TV and went to bed(in which I was already laying because this room was so tiny but cute)
This was the second day of my internship.
And nope I am not finish with cleaning up, I am just really lazy. ;P
Hey guys. Finally, I’ve made it, I am in Stratford upon Avon, England now! My flight went at 7:40 am so I had to get up at 5am bc it takes a half hour to get to the airport. I went to bed lately yesterday so I was really tired. Half of the way to the airport I had the feeling that I forgot my passport which I took out of my pocket to check in at home yesterday. And I was right, I forgot it, so we – my parents and I – had to drive back home to search it. When we arrived at home it was half past six. Fortunately we found it fastly and we drove back to the airport. We parked the car and wanted to leave the parking lot by elevator but it did not work so my father had to carry my 21.5 pounds heavy bag one floor down. I had to get to Gate B and my mum already panicked that my bag will not get into the plane anymore. It was 6:55am. We checked in my luggage and hurried to the security check. There we had to say our goodbyes. My parents gave me a little lucky pig. It was 7:07am. At 7:10 am my boarding started. I went through security check and to the toilet bc I drank a cup of coffee in the morning. Moreover I bought a magazine bc I did not want to get bored at the 1 hour and 15 minutes long flight. Then I had to go to the passport control and was happy that I realized earlier that I have forgotten him otherwise I would have never catched my plane. I was the last one who arrived at the boarding and right after me the boarding was completed. So it was very scarce. I had a seat at the window, the exact same number than the number of the seat at my first flight with my aunt from Munich to Frankfurt. This was my purpose as I chose it yesterday. The flight was over fast – unfortunately – and the guy from the company where I make my internship picked me up. Ok it took a while ’til we found each other and I had to phone him in the end. I googled him yesterday and the picture I found is not very flattering for him. In person he looks so much nicer and better and is really, really, really nice. Fortunately my mum made me bring some Thank-you-gifts for the people here with me too. We first went to drink a coffee and then had to hurry bc he had to be in time for his video conference. At the beginning it looked like me not 21.5 pounds but exactly 23 pounds heavy bag does not get into his little showoff BMW but it got in. We drove really fast to the company. There I got welcomed by three really nice ladies and got my own computer. Hannah, who should look after me, showed me around and got my my visting card. With this I was able to go through the building to go e.g. to the toilet. After that I got a task right away. I had to create contacts by tipping name, company, telephone and E-Mail from 28 papers into the computer. Then it was time for lunch and Hannah showed me the little town. We talked a little bit about what we like to do in our free time and I noticed that I am really bad at speaking English. Back in the company I got a new task: to update the old contacts. I was finish at “work” at 5pm. One of the nice three ladies – Christine – drove me to the bed and breakfast where I will stay ’til next friday. The owner showed me my room and fortunately brought my bag up to the 2nd floor. It was 6pm. Because it also rained I was not in the mood to go to the next supermarket 20 minutes away so I stayed in my room and unpacked my luggage and ate only an apple for dinner. Moreover I had to fill out the documents about my stay and what I want for breakfast the next few days. After that I skyped with my sister and my parents. Lets see how my stay will be, I am really excited and what I will dream in my first night, bc what you dreams then it gets true (said my mum).
Love you all and a pleasant night Becca
