The true New Year’s Eve

Ok guys, I was wrong, New Year’s Eve was completely different!

After I posted New Year’s Eve I went upstairs to my room to watch the New Year’s Celebration in Sydney, it was amazing, especially the gold rain from the Harbour Bridge! Unfortunately the webcams did not work and it aired on no German TV channel so I zapped around and foIMG_1252[1].jpgund BBC World News, Euro news and Sky news – fortunately! Then I tried to watch a New Year’s Celebration somewhere in the world at the full hour, I published the pictures in my Gallery, they are in a bad quality because I took the pictures with my iPod. Well I sat there, the whole day, and watched TV. My mum came back from work because we had a fight because I reminded her that my sister is a vegetarian but we had nothing to eat for her for dinner. Moreover, she said she does not wanna go to church because she has still so much to do so we stayed at home and I was soo bored and because of our fight I did not wanna help her (very

childish, I know). We started eating at 7pm and were finished at 9pm. And that means for me? You are right I did not  watch New Year’s Eve but HSM 1 + 2. Everyone was on his / her own.  We got to know that in Munich was a terror threat. Well it is kinda difficult to realise that there could be suicide bombers that near… Fortunately nothing happend thanks to the French intelligence agency!
My mum went to bed at 11pm and my sister, my dad and I started watching James Cameron’s Avatar and stopped it 10 minutes before 12. We got our champagne and went outside to fire our only firework. It was okay. The sight was terrible because of the fog. We went back inside where Frau Schröder woke up my mum because she miaowed really loud. Mum just wished us a happy new year and got back to bed while I cuddled with my cat and we continued watching Avatar. I excused myself  5 minutes before 1 so I could watch the Celebration in London. A short time after I came back I fell asleep. I went to bed at 3 am after I watched the New Year’s Celebration in Rio.
THE REALLY REALLY BAD THING IS THAT I OVERSLEPT THE CELEBRATION IN NYC ALTHOUGH I SET FOUR ALARM CLOCKS!!! Damn it! I try it next year again. I got up at 9am and watched Cinderella. After that I made breakfast and at 12 pm my dad and my sister got up aswell. I hope your New Year’s Eve was awesome, I still hate it!

Happy New Year

Well you probably thought I forgot it because I did not wrote something about happy new year in my last post but I would never forget you! 😉
I know not everyone of you has a new year already but I have since now so I wish you all a happy new year 2016 and for the ones who liked 2015 I hope this year’s gonna be at least as good as 2015 was and for the ones who did not enjoy 2015 ( like me) I hope 2016 will be a lot better than the last year! I googled a lot but I did not found a translation for the German idiom Guten Rutsch! which means translated word to word Good slide! One says it when one sees someone one does not see or talk to again before midnight which means somebody should get over into the new year well it is a way to say Happy New Year before midnight!
Thank you for an amazing first year on Wattpad even though I publish very rarely and although I do not have resolutions I try to post more this year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR and may the odds be ever in YOUR favor!

All the best, Rebecca

New Year’s Eve

Good morning! I hope you all had wonderful christmas! I really do not like New Year’s Eve! It is always the same. I do not know what to do the whole day. I try to recall the year and write down my wishes, high- and lowlights. Then I watch a movie I saw this year the first time and liked it the most. After that my mum, grandma and I go to church. It is pretty cool, the best sermon of the year is on New Year’s Eve. In former times I made New Year Cards for my parents, my sister and my grandmother. Do you have any New Year’s resolutions? I do not have any. My resolution was every year to start putting my hands up in school but I never have so I do not make it. Well once I wanted to lose weight and it worked but like I told you already I gained it again. After church we start preparing dinner ( it was Raclette last year – very popular in Germany on New Year’s Eve as well as this year’s dinner Fondue. My mum eats cheese Fondue and the rest of us normal Fondue that means hot pot. We have beef, pork and chicken. I love chicken!   I do not know what my sister’s gonna eat, I mean she does not eat cheese and is a Vegetarian since sunday.) This year’s gonna be different than always because my mum works now and has to work tomorrow morning so she has to get up at 4am. Usually we eat dinner, play games like Monopoly, Mensch ärger dich nicht (Ludo), eat chips and my grandma comes over half an hour before midnight, then we do lead pouring, for which one needs a lot of fantasy which I do not have, my dad fires the fireworks and then we watch a movie, I do not know why but often it is From Paris with Love with John Travolta or Mission Impossible IV, I probably remember it better than the other ones because I write it down but this year I do not know how it is (I tell you later). I know that my mum goes to bed before midnight probably ’round 11pm. She is sure that the fireworks won’t wake her up but I bet they will.
The reason why I hate New Year’s Eve is that my parents say at midnight, you are great, stay the way you are but on the other 364/365 days in the year they critize me and everyone to change. I hate it! Moreover it is really sad that another year is over. Furthermore Frau Schröder is always really scared, last year she wanted to go outside at 4pm and I thought she would be back before 12am, before the fireworks start, but she did not come home although I called her. She was really scared of the fireworks and came back not until January 2. And the last point is that everyone has fun on parties but I have to stay at home. This year’s New Year’s Eve is gonna be really sad because after dinner I am gonna watch either High School Musical 1 + 2 – Karaoke Version with my sister or New Year’s Eve (both air on TV). What I watch depends on when we finish dinner, when we finish it before 8.15pm I am gonna watch New Year’s Eve else I watch HSM because I know the movies already ( almost by heart ).
Since 4 hours I wanted to watch the fireworks in New York but first I had no own computer and last year I was too tired to get up, I have to get up at 6 am for it. This year I am gonna try it again.
Well let’s see how it will be!

The first ones already celebrated New Year’s Eve and in less than 30 minutes Australia will welcome 2016 aswell!

31st October Special

Yes you are right, today is Reformation Day, when Luther nailed the thesis on the wall of the church in Wittenberg. This was the start of the Evangelic Reformed Church. Well you maybe guessed it I am a Protestant. Often the people forget that it is today because of Halloween and do not get my wrong, I really love Halloween! I just curved a great pumpkin, I really like it. But it is often really boring in here… Almost nobody rangs the door and I stayed at home but trick ‘r treating is really boring here and Partys did not take place either. I stayed at home the whole day but did a bit Halloween stuff, I ate a really tasty Halloween pastry, looked for sweets for children who rang. Then I went running and looked for my Halloween ring and earring, found them and watched John Carpenter’s Halloween .After that I cooked Pumpkin stew with Chicken and Chorizo. It was really good! Well after that – very Halloween unlikely – I watched Joko gegen Klaas – Das Duell um die Welt. It is a show about the 2  German presenters Joko Winterscheidt und Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, who assign themselves tasks, who are either yukky, scary or crazy. An example: Joko wanted Klaas to dance with the prisoners in the Phillipines. Klaas dances or they meet and have to wrestle Joko and Klaas wrestling.
After that I watched The silence of the lamp. That was my Halloween.

Happy 3rd of October! – 25th anniversary

Good morning!
My plans for today: After school I collected my glasses and we drove to my grandmother. I am really looking forward to go to the fest in Frankfurt! Even one of my acquaintance makes a trip with her class to Frankfurt because of the Einigkeitsfest. The light show at 9pm is said to be awesome. My grandmother does not wanna come with us. I will let myself surprise. It is unbelievable for me that Germany was spilt in 2 parts once.2000px-Deutschland_Besatzungszonen_8_Jun_1947_-_22_Apr_1949.svg
After WWII the winners (USA, Soviet Union, France and GB) were divided over their political interests USA, France and GB founded the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD) and the Soviet Union the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR). The BRD orientated itself to the West, that means with the help of the USA by the currency reform and the Marshall plan got the living standards higher in the BRD.

The system of government of the DDR became socialism. The party who decided for the country in the interests of the Soviet Union was called SED. To secure that they keep the power, the founded the Staatssicherheit (Stasi). Its tasks were to chase and suppress political opponents. The DDR got all public ground and introduced the Fünfjahresplan, which regulated the distribution and the production of food for 5 years and the Planwirtschaft, which should prevent a gap between poor and rich. The Fünfjahresplan did not work out so the work got harder but for less money. This caused demonstration for a new government, which were terminated by the Soviet Union.

The USA wanted to thwart the communism which was spread by the Soviet Union. Not only this aspect but also the Alleinvertretungsanspruch, which said that the BRD is the political power of both countries, with that the BRD did not accept the DDR under international law. They were tributary to two totally different countries with different goals. Although Stalin suggest that BRD and DDR could be united again the BRD declared this offer because it was afraid to get a socialistic system of government, too. Because of their differences and to prevent that more people move to the BRD because of the higher living standards there the DDR builded the Wall at the 13th of August 1961. And it got very difficult to leave the DDR.

The new Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt tried to approximate to the DDR.Willy Brandt, Bundeskanzler zwischen 1969-1974
He did not want that the contact between the citizens of each countries break.More and more other countries accepted the DDR and the BRD was resolute to act. They both accepted each other through the Grundlagenvertrag. It accepted the borders and the policy for a peaceful cohabitation were generally agreed. The goal of the BRD was one united nation with the DDR. In 1973 DDR and BRD became part of the United Nations.
The general of secretary of the DDR Erich Hoenecker was concerned that the much visitors weaken the cohesion of the DDR and he wanted to isolate the DDR so they tried to ban the word Deutsch (German) from everything which was official and expanded the Stasi.

At the communal vote 1989 the citizens were able to vote for candidates of just one party. Everyone who wanted to use a polling both were suspected to be a political opponent. This was the time when the people protested about the vote fixing and the whole system. Hoencker had to step down but the even the new government was not able to stop the Montagsdemonstrationen (protests every monday).  So the borders got opened and the Wall fell on November 9 1989.

The basic things were set and the winner of the WWII had to agree on the unification of BRD and DDR. So France, USA, GB and after long negotiations even the Soviet Union and also DDR and BRD signed the Zwei-plus-Vier-Vertrag. The Einigungsvertrag allowed the unification of BRD and DDR on October 3 1990. Because of this we celebrate like the Americans the 4th of July on October 3 our Tag der Deutschen Einheit.

If you wonder what was the national holiday before (like me) it was the 7th October (the founding of the state after WWII) in the DDR and the 17th June in the BRD to remember the demonstration in the DDR 1953. In the National socialism was it the 1st May (Day of work) because Hitler decreased the number of unemployed a lot. Before that in the Weimarer Republik was it August 11 because on this day was the constitution signed. (1919)

So for all have a nice saturday und für alle Deutschen: einen schönen Einheitstag und ein schönes Fest (egal wo Berlin, Frankfurt,…)! 😉

Glasses

Hi guys, I am back again!

So I am a part of the glasses community now. Yeah right, I got glasses. I was at the oculist last week because for my driver’s license I need a voucher that I can see the traffic, now with glasses:(. I never wanted glasses, my sister has some and I tried them on and looked so hilarious. After the oculist said I need glasses my mum hauled my to the optician and I picked five different models and had time to think about it over the weekend and on monday I picked a brown-blue model. It looks okay… But I realized I need some because I can barely see the board. Soo let’s see how I can handle living with glasses;)
