Day 2: Tuesday 17th March 2015

Okay just some things: First I will write what happened on the day like a diary this means I am not writing like I already know what happens the next days… Second if I write something it is my opinion and does not want to hurt people and third sorry for my English sometimes, when I said something in England sometimes I noticed right away that it was wrong, I mean grammatically.

Ok let’s go!

I got up at 7am bc I was going to have breakfast at 7.45am. I got dressed formal, I had to because of my internship, but I a) was scarred that I would make stain on it and I had not got a washing machine so I wore a jacket and b) it feeled strange to be dressed like this there. But nobody wuld have mind because I was alone in the dining room. Maybe because I took the earliest time to have breakfast. Breakfast was great a chose grilled tomato (which did not tasted well), mushrooms, potato waffle, bacon and beaked beans, coffee and white toast. It was very delicious. I got my own pot of coffee and was not sure if I had to drink this all so I drank the whole pot. Breakfast took 30 minutes. I went back to my room to go to the toilett and grab my stuff. Christine picked me up at 8.30am because “work” started at 9am. We arrived there at 8.56am. I had to continue with my research which hotel in the UK have business accounts. Between 10am and 12pm I went to the toilett approx. 10 times because of the coffee! Then I had to rearrange contracts whose layouts moved because of two different programms. The time flew by really fast. After I Christine drove me to the BB I changed my clothes and went to the Town Centre of Stratford to buy some souvenirs for my family and non-excistent friends. But the stores closed already at 5pm and I just finish “work” then so I will never buy some souvenirs there. Fortunately there were a class from France and one souvenir shop opened again! 😉 So I bought some shot glasses for my parents because I bought them some in Venice too. I bought a bracelett for my best friend and one for me, postcards, 2 pens (one for my sister, one for my cousin) and a mirror for a friend. It was 6.15pm now. Now I wanted to go back to the BB because I already bought something for dinner in my break, I bought noodles, grapes, strawberries, carrots, and three fruit salads. This things are in Germany so much cheaper. For example strawberries cost £2 (approx. 2.76€). In Germany they cost 1.5€ (approx. £1.09) or the Coke £1 (approx. 1.38€) cost in Germany 0.85€ (approx. £0.62). I am not sure why I bought so much .stuff which has to be kept in a refrigator so I ate almost everything that day but back to my way home. I was not sure which way so I followed the sign which says Stratford leys, I thought leys means something like hotel… It was of course wrong but I kept going ’til I arived at Tesco’s. There I bought 2 diet coke and muffins. I infered that I had to be parallel to my BB and just had to find a street which linked those two. Because of this I comped all the little streets but they were dead ends so after an hour unsuccesful searching I decided to go the way back I went there. It was dark now and I wanted to get back so I chose another way. Fortunately it was a cutoff. When I arrived at the BB I chose what I wanted to get for breakfast tomorrow. First I thought I had to choose for my whole stay. Then I turned the TV on and watched NCIS, Big Bng Theory and Supernatural. After this I watched The king’s speech. I fell asleep and woke up at 1am. I turned of the TV and went to bed(in which I was already laying because this room was so tiny but cute)

This was the second day of my internship.
And nope I am not finish with cleaning up, I am just really lazy. ;P

Hello I am back home, already since friday. I am really sorry that I have not had the time to write something so I will try to tell you this in the next days. All in all my stay in England was amazing and I am really sad to be home again. Furthermore I am  still a little bit busy because my parents changed my floor from carpeted floor to laminate so they had to empty my room and I have to put it back in my room again. But I am really lazy and instead of cleaning it up, I draw pictures or make mosaics ( found both while cleaning up). I never thought my internship in the UK would be so nice and I am so so so so so so unending sad that my time there is over! Okay guys, I should try finishing the cleaning up of my room today so I go back working and I promise when I am finished you will some more days of my great stay in Stratford-upon-Avon!

England – Finally

Hey guys. Finally, I’ve made it, I am in Stratford upon Avon, England now! My flight went at 7:40 am so I had to get up at 5am bc it takes a half hour to get to the airport. I went to bed lately yesterday so I was really tired. Half of the way to the airport I had the feeling that I forgot my passport which I took out of my pocket to check in at home yesterday. And I was right, I forgot it, so we – my parents and I – had to drive back home to search it. When we arrived at home it was half past six. Fortunately we found it fastly and we drove back to the airport. We parked the car and wanted to leave the parking lot by elevator but it did not work so my father had to carry my 21.5 pounds heavy bag one floor down. I had to get to Gate B and my mum already panicked that my bag will not get into the plane anymore. It was 6:55am. We checked in my luggage and hurried to the security check. There we had to say our goodbyes. My parents gave me a little lucky pig. It was 7:07am. At 7:10 am my boarding started. I went through security check and to the toilet bc I drank a cup of coffee in the morning. Moreover I bought a magazine bc I did not want to get bored at the 1 hour and 15 minutes long flight. Then I had to go to the passport control and was happy that I realized earlier that I have forgotten him otherwise I would have never catched my plane. I was the last one who arrived at the boarding and right after me the boarding was completed. So it was very scarce. I had a seat at the window, the exact same number than the number of the seat at my first flight with my aunt from Munich to Frankfurt. This was my purpose as I chose it yesterday. The flight was over fast – unfortunately – and the guy from the company where I make my internship picked me up. Ok it took a while ’til we found each other and I had to phone him in the end. I googled him yesterday and the picture I found is not very flattering for him. In person he looks so much nicer and better and is really, really, really nice. Fortunately my mum made me bring some Thank-you-gifts for the people here with me too. We first went to drink a coffee and then had to hurry bc he had to be in time for his video conference. At the beginning it looked like me not 21.5 pounds but exactly 23 pounds heavy bag does not get into his little showoff BMW but it got in. We drove really fast to the company. There I got welcomed by three really nice ladies and got my own computer. Hannah, who should look after me, showed me around and got my my visting card. With this I was able to go through the building to go e.g. to the toilet. After that I got a task right away. I had to create contacts by tipping name, company, telephone and E-Mail from 28 papers into the computer. Then it was time for lunch and Hannah showed me the little town. We talked a little bit about what we like to do in our free time and I noticed that I am really bad at speaking English. Back in the company I got a new task: to update the old contacts. I was finish at “work” at 5pm. One of the nice three ladies – Christine – drove me to the bed and breakfast where I will stay ’til next friday. The owner showed me my room and fortunately brought my bag up to the 2nd floor. It was 6pm. Because it also rained I was not in the mood to go to the next supermarket 20 minutes away so I stayed in my room and unpacked my luggage and ate only an apple for dinner. Moreover I had to fill out the documents about my stay and what I want for breakfast the next few days. After that I skyped with my sister and my parents. Lets see how my stay will be, I am really excited and what I will dream in my first night, bc what you dreams then it gets true (said my mum).
Love you all and a pleasant night Becca

While you were sleeping (1995)

The movie While you were sleeping is a typical romance but in a good way.
It is about Lucy, who works as a ticket seller at a train station in Chicago. Every weekday she sees her crush Peter, who does not notice her. At christmas Peter gets attached and bumbed onto the rails. She sees the attack and saves him. In the hospital she is not allowed to visit him because she is not a family member. A nurse heard her saying she wanted to marry him and thinks she is the fiance of him. Because of this she is allowed to visit him. Shortly after this Peter’s family arrives and gets told that Lucy is Peter’s fiancee.
She is too shocked to tell the truth and after becoming part of Peter’s family after being alone and hearing that his grandmother Elsie has heart problems. Peter cannot tell the truth, too because he falls into a coma. Only Peter’s godfather Saul knows the truth because he hears Lucy talking with Peter. He says she cannot tell the truth and that he will help her with her problem. Because Lucy is alone at christmas and got an invitation to spend it with the Gallaghers, Peter’s family, she celebrates with them. There she meets Peter’s brother Jack. First he cannot believe that his brother is going to marry such a nice girl but after successfully answering his questions – by knowing the answers accidentally – Jack believes her and they become friends and maybe a little bit more than that…

The movie is a really stereotyped romance. I really enjoyed watching it. Sandra Bullock (Lucy) is a big reason why this film is really great. When Jack aka Bill Pullman appeared I first thought he is Robin Williams. It is really great to see how Sandra and Bill act together. In my opinion this movie is a must watch!

The time traveler’s wife (2009)

I am so nervous because of tomorrow so I try to distract me with this blog. Last sunday I watched ”The time traveler’s wife”. I wanted to watch this movie so bad so I bought it last saturday. It is about Henry de Tamble who is a time traveler. He lost his mother at an accident as a child where he is partly responsible for. Since this he never really had friends or relationships.
One day he meets Clare Abshire in the library, where he works. She recognizes him immediatly although he sure they have never meet before. Clare convinces him that they meet by telling him that she knows he is a time traveler. Furthermore she tells him she loves him. Henry will visit her in the past, when she is still a child and she will fall in love with her. They become a couple. Clare’s friends are leery and one of them, Gomez, catches the future Henry and sees him vanishing. He tells Clare about it but of course she knows it already. Of course there are more problems caused by Henry’s time travelling like Henry’s abscent at his wedding…

Although the movie is a romantic drama, its more about Henry’s time travelling than about the love story between Henry and Clare. Another thing that I does  not like about the movie is that there is no building up of the relationship, suddenly there together even though one sees Henry travelling back in time to Clare’s childhood. Clare often says that he visited her but one only sees him travelling back 3 – 4 times. There some unlogical things like Henry cannot travel with clothes but returns with clothes???! Some things seem really unrealistic but it is at the very rarely scenes really romantic. I think the end is really surprising although one can foresee it from the half of the movie.
Eric Bana (Henry) and Rachel McAdams (Clare) have a great chemistry together but are unchallenged with their roles so it sometimes seems like the plot bores them, too.

All in all it is a cute movie and good for a lonely, rainy sunday afternoon.

Results of the test

While I was scrolling  and skimming through my old posts I noticed that I have not posted the results of the test with the intention to find out which job fits for me.

1. Interpreter 89.92%
2. Linguist 89.26%
3.Translator 88.73%4. Multilingual secretary 85.17%
5. Germanistin 85.57%
6. Cook 70.3%
7. Dietitian 67.87%

Except 6. & 7. they are all about language. That’s great because I really want to do something about language later!

So now my performance specification:
I have a little bit more general knowledge than the average of the other participants.
I can concentrate me better than the average.
My math knowledge is a little bit outstanding (I don’t know how I managed to get this result. I am really really REALLY bad at math.)My spelling is a little bit better than the spelling of the others. (This sentence sounds wrong).
The visual thinking of mine is a little bit better than the average’s ones.

If this results would all be correct I really would be outstanding. I cannot understand why I am so bad at school! 😉

I am – again – really sorry that I was inactive that long but I was pretty busy with school although I didn’t get good grades especially in math. That exam i failed unfortunately. But the next two weeks I will have a working experience and after that two weeks of holidays. I am really excited because I will not do my working experience in Germany but in England. I will stay there utterly alone bc I don’t know anyone there! But I am confident that I will make it. I am really happy to leave my home bc my parents and I have at least two arguments a day. This is really exhausting! I would like to write more but my friend waits for my bc we want to do sports together. So if I have time to write I will post something but I am not sure. I have to check in for my flight tomorrow and have to pack. Cu later guys! 😉

P.S. I want to introduce a new category: Movie Review. I will try to post every weekend a review. Often it will be about romantic movies. The movies can be old movies or some really new which are in the cinemas right now. I try to post one today, maybe even two.
